"The purpose of education is to show us how to define ourselves authentically and spontaneously in relation to the world-not to impose a prefabricated definition of the world, still less an arbitrary definition of ourselves as individuals." -Thomas Merton
The goal of any educational process, of any educational process, must be the goal of self-reflection, of critical reflection of the world, of our place in the world, and the truths and fallacies that superficially bind us to these self-evident truths. How can true critical reflection be embedded into the largely failing schooling systems of the developing world? How can the teaching of coexistance be supported by the uneven power structures that exist to keep feeding societal inequalities, oppression, microcosms at the lowest levels of global society?
